Stine brings our attention to the work of Edward de Bono, a pioneer in the school of thinking as he
classified thinking into six modes. In each situation, these are the six different methods of thinking
a person may choose from:
1- Thinking objectively is when we examine facts and all objective information about a case.
2- Thinking critically also involving examining facts but while keeping an eye for every possible problem and/or negative consequence about a case.
3- Thinking positively is exactly as it sounds. It involves viewing a case positively by searching only for the bright side in the situation
such as benefits, solutions and opportunities.
4- Thinking creatively derives from the intent to find a solution to a problem or to make an existing situation better.
5- Thinking intuitively deals with the emotional reflections associated with a given situation.
6- Thinking about the modes is the process of monitoring your own thinking process.
In conclusion, the world around us is growing rapidly in complexity which is why new studies and thoughts are continuously
coming to life and the existing ones are being further classified into sub fields and sub specialties. As life is becoming
more cumbersome, we need to rise to the challenge of the twenty first century by increasing our brains power. We barely
scratched the surface of what Jean Marie Stine mentioned in her book “Double Your Brain Power” (Stine, 1997). We intended
to do just enough to entice our readers to look further into this subject.
